Let’s Talk Air Travel

Flying doesn’t have to be stressful! In this guide, we’ll share practical tips to help you fly smarter, save money, and arrive feeling refreshed :)

1/ best time to book a flight

  • Domestic flights: 1.5 to 2 months before departure.

  • International flights: 2 to 5 months before departure.

  • Last-minute deals: fly on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Saturdays.

2/ best seats

  • For an empty seat next to you: if you’re flying on a partially full flight, choose a seat near the back. Airlines tend to fill planes from front to back, so the last rows often have empty spots!

  • For the best service: also… sit near the back! Flight attendants usually start meal service from the front, but they tend to be more generous with extras towards the end of the cart’s route.

  • For fastest exit: choose an aisle seat near the front-left side; most planes have the main exit door on the left for quicker deboarding.

  • For anxious fliers: if turbulence makes you nervous, book a seat over the wings. This is the plane’s center of gravity, making it the most stable area.

3/ stay hydrated

… specially at 30,000 ft! Airplane cabins are extremely dry, with humidity levels dropping to 10-20% (drier than the Sahara Desert!). Here’s what you can do about it:

  • Avoid salty meals: high-sodium foods (like airport fast food) can worsen dehydration.

  • Bring a large reusable bottle: fill it after security and sip throughout the flight. Aim for at least 250ml per hour.

  • May consider applying a moisturizing sheet mask: if you don’t mind looking a bit extra, use one on long-haul flights. It makes a huge difference on your skin!

  • Electrolytes: if you REALLY suffer from dehydration when flying, pack electrolyte powders or tablets to replenish lost minerals.

4/ take a pillowcase (instead of a travel pillow)

Stuffing a pillow in your bag takes up space, but a pillowcase? That’s easy. Before boarding, stuff it with your hoodie or scarf, and voilà — you have a makeshift pillow that also saves luggage space!

Whether it’s a hop or a haul, this 2025 fly like a pro!
